Elisa Robbe

Elisa Robbe holds a Master of Arts in Interpreting (Dutch, English & Spanish), which she obtained at Ghent University in 2019. She continued her studies in the Master’s programme of Conflict & Development Studies at the Faculty of Social & Political Sciences, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2021. After gaining a first work experience in education and campaigning with the NGO Oxfam Belgium, she was granted a PhD scholarship in 2023 with the Spanish section at the Department of Translation, Interpreting & Communication at Ghent University. With a background in linguistic and sociopolitical studies she is conducting research on the impact of discourse and digital media on the processes of identity construction and belonging in the context of transit migration in Mexico. Her interests lie at the intersections of language, discourse, audiovisual translation, and social change and migration in Latin America.
