Stéphanie Engola holds a PhD from the University of Yaounde I in linguistics with a focus on literary translation. Her current work is on the representation of violence and its propagation power in society through the reader as agent. It seeks to examine the reception of violence in literary translation, the transformations that occur in the reader’s mind and which affect their perception of cultures.

Stephanie read a first degree in English and French in 2003, followed by a Master’s degree in translation from the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (Buéa, Cameroon). She has taught at many institutions of Higer Education in Cameroon and Senegal. She has attended and presented contributions at various conferences both on a national and international level, including conferences on literary translation, history of translation and intercultural communication.

Presently, she is a Marie-Curie sealed of Excellence (SoE) and a post-doctoral fellow at Vrije Universiteit Brussels under the supervision of Prof. Arvi Sepp.
