Philippe Humblé received his PhD from the Universidade de Santa Catarina/University of Birmingham with a dissertation in lexicography. In Brazil, he played an important role in the creation of the Master and PhD programme in Translation Studies at the Universidade de Santa Catarina and the journal Cadernos de Tradução. At this university, he taught the courses ‘Literary Translation’ and ‘Lexicography and Translation” mainly vis-à-vis Spanish. His publications focus mainly on translations of Don Quixote, migrant literature, language and migrant issues in general, literary translation and corpus research/lexicography. The social and sociological perspective is the common thread in his research. In recent years, he has increasingly studied translation issues from a Chinese perspective and especially its geopolitical side. Besides Belgian doctoral students, he has supervised mainly Chinese and Brazilian PhD students.
