Thomas Langerak studied Slavonic Languages and Literatures at Amsterdam University (UvA) and Moscow State University (MGU). From 1975 till 2000 he teaches Russian literature at Amsterdam University, since 2000 at Ghent University. In 1995 he defended a PhD-thesis on the Russian prose writer Andrei Platonov.
Research topics: the reception of Russian literature in the Low Countries in the twentieth century. This research focuses on translations of Russian poetry by Dutch and Flemish poets and on pastiches on the Russian theme in Dutch and Flemish poetry.
