Brenda Bressan Thomé is a Ph.D. candidate in Translation Studies at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC-Brazil) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She holds a CAPES-PRINT scholarship, conceded by a Brazilian scientific authority for a year-long sandwich doctorate at VUB (2023-2024). Her Ph.D. focuses on developing a commented translation of francophone women’s travel diaries written in the 19th Century, especially Rose de Saulses de Freycinet and other adventurers who visited Brazil. These studies intend to contribute to a diversification of discourse in historical accounts, bringing women’s writings, points of view, and all their complexities to the center of discussion through new translations faithful to their voices. Brenda completed her master’s degree in Translation Studies and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a license degree in French Studies at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.
