Marie-Hélène C. Torres is a Full Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Graduate Translation Studies Program (PGET) of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil (UFSC). She is currently coordinator of interinstitutional doctorate programs with UFPA (Universidade Federal do Pará) and PROCAD-Amazônia. Her research projects involve literature and translation: the Theory and History of Translation, National and Translated Literature, French-language Literature translated in Brazil. Her published books include Variations sur l´étranger dans les lettres: cent ans de traductions françaises des lettres brésiliennes (2004, Artois Presses Université), Traduzir o Brasil Literário : paratexto e discurso de acompanhamento (2011), Traduzir o Brasil Literário : Historia e crítica (2014). She has translated Antoine Berman’s La traduction et la Lettre ou l’auberge du lointain to Portuguese (2013). She has been co-director of the TransLetras Collection since 2015. She is a researcher at CNPq (the Brazilian Council for Scientific and Technological Development). She also translates French litterature and translation theory.
